Representatives of companies from all sectors interested in improving their performance, municipal and communal enterprises dealing with water management, solid waste management, urban planning and other fields, trade associations, national governments, associations of towns and municipalities, regional and local development agencies and other interested parties from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo/a (UNSCR 1244).



Course background

 
In a world challenged by growing economic and environmental crises, sustainable development is the approach most likely to provide a balance between the environmental, economic and social needs of humanity nowadays. We are inviting mid–level professionals to apply for this exciting training opportunity and broaden their knowledge with important information and practical skills that will help them work towards sustainable development in a more efficient and concrete manner.

 

This course will be held in Hotel "Splendid" in Budva, Montenegro from 23rd to 26th of March, 2010.
 
Internationally renowned lecturers from institutions such as European Commission, International Standards Organization (ISO), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability and International Chamber of Commerce, will share their experience on topics such as financing business sustainability, private and municipal enterprise sustainability and monitoring enterprise sustainability. Case studies of business and municipal enterprises will be presented and followed by discussions to accommodate any questions or clarifications required. A draft course agenda can be found here . Interpretation from English to local languages will be provided at the course, if necessary.

Most successful participants of this course will be invited to apply for the Course for local sustainability and action III and other similar training events organized by the Regional Environmental Center. More information about this opportunity will be provided at the course in Montenegro.
